Nothing spells out elegant, chic and sexy like a figure fitting white shirt atop a pair of boot cut denim that comfortably hugs and accentuates your curvy bottom to perfection. An effortless look that given a few small tricks is bound to create a simple outfit that translates to “I’m hot without trying too hard” — definitely a winning look with all the gents out there.

Here are a few tips and tricks that will surely help you pull off this simple, yet sexy attire with the finesse of a true fashion goddess.

Unraveling that Perfect White Shirt

Fit

That classic white shirt should be of perfect fit to accentuate your figure; go too loose and it will be unflattering, go too tight and it will look, well, cheap. Also make sure that, when secured, the buttons are nice and loose; nobody needs to know the color of your bras.

Cut

The cut also needs to be a classic one, so avoid ruffles, puffy sleeves or boyfriend shirts in investment buys; you do not want to spend a lot of money on something that will go out of style in a season or two. Opt for vertical darts for a slender, taller look, or horizontal ones that fall just below your bust to accentuate your curvy figure.

Fabric

Opt for treated cotton or twill, something natural with a bit of texture to it so it doesn’t make you too hot during that long day at the office, but still has structure and isn’t transparent.

Collar

The collar should look clean cut and sleek, but shouldn’t be too stiff, short or tall.

Hems

The hems should be well-aligned without an crooked lines or whirly edges.

Length

Make sure your shirt isn’t too short, if in doubt, go longer, but a shorter length will make your torso appear sturdy. Opt for something that falls around your hipbones.

Snatching Away that Perfect Pair of Denim

Fabric

You might be tempted by the stretchy feel of some pairs because they feel cozier or easier fitted, but stretchy fabric are by no means figure flattering and will stretch with each and every wear. To those of you who gladly credit the loosening of their jeans waist to the miraculous effect of that three-day juice fast you just tried, I hate to break it to you, but in most cases, it is not because you actually lost weight, but rather because the quality of your pair of jeans is just not top-notch.

Good quality denim will be tightly woven and the fabric will feel heavy to the touch. These will give you good structure and, most importantly, will stay more or less the same size.

Fit

Yes, quality denim will not stretch as much, but every pair of jeans does stretch a little, so keep that in mind while trying it on. However, if it is too tight and you literally have to squeeze into, opt for a size bigger; nobody likes muffin ops.

Rise

If you don’t want your thongs showing, do not opt for lower waists; they’re uncomfortable to wear and bound to flash some booty flesh. Instead, opt for something that falls just below the belly button; the perfect balance between mommy and tacky jeans.

Cut

Now that skinny jeans are out of fashion, you have no excuse to wear those excruciatingly unflattering shapes anymore. Skinny jeans are, as the name suggests, best for skinnier shapes. So if your Egyptian genes have kicked in and you have a little bit of curve in your lower half, opt for boot cuts, not the 1970s flares, but ones with a slight flare to them. This cut balances out hips and flatters curves.

Cropped skinnies paired up with pumps or flats are also a good option for a more summery and casual feel that won’t leave your booty looking out of proportion because the little bit of skin showing before the ankle serves as a distraction. If you have an old pair of skinnies you can either crop it or simply roll it up a couple of times.

Style

The pockets and embellishments on the jeans can flatter the shape if used wisely. For fuller bottoms, opt for a wider pocket and less embellishments in the back. Smaller pockets are good for flat booties; it gives the illusion of a fuller bottom and flatters the boyish shape.

Length

Know what you’re using the jeans for, if you will be wearing them with heels, then take an average heels along when you’re trying them on. The jeans should fall directly above the ground, not touching it; unless you want to go for a hobo-chic look. If you’re getting a longer pair of jeans and need it tailored, ask for the ‘sehreya’ (magic) stitching, whereby your tailor will make a fold just before the hem and stitch right above it so the original styling and stitching on the hems still shows and it doesn’t look shortened.
