Fashion Trends form the Oscars 2014 Red Carpet

Fashion Trends form the Oscars 2014 Red Carpet

The Oscars’ red carpet is equivalent to the season’s evening gowns’ fashion bible, and this year is no different. Designers thrown in fabrics, cuts, combinations but not too much color in the Oscars 2014 mix.

Black, neutrals and pastels reigned over the red carpet this year, from nudes to light prink, beige and classic creams to sleek black flowing gowns. Dresses this year were classically cut with a vintage appeal remnant of the Oscars glam—even Lady Gaga opted from a light pink gown. Trails were flowing over the carpet and the focus remained no the cut rather than embroidery, embellishments and intricate detailing which remained at bay and mostly used in subtle colors matching the colors of the fabrics.

The Neutrals and Pastels:

Neutrals came in all colors and textures, from lace to sheers and from light cream to champagne.

The Less-Neutral Golds

Playing off the neutral trends, a more Oscar befitting gold was also used in many designs.

Emma Watson learned to rock the red carpet at a rather young age, and this year is no different. She put a gothic touch to an otherwise glamourous look by combining red lipstick and a classic hairdo with the metallic Vera Wang dress and stacked rings that reflect her young persona. What can we say? Meryl Streep never ceases to amaze us on every aspect; including the whole aging-gracefuly-and-still-looking-better-than-most-young-actresses one. She wore Lanvin blouse and skirt. Photo by Bryan Crowe / A.M.P.A.S

The Trailed

Trails continue to be big on the red carpet, from subtle small ones to full-fledged, ground sweeping tails.
