She went out eating alone in her wedding gown, rode the underground where women asked her if her groom is in the men’s cart and then proceeded to give her a good, old-fashioned zaffa (bride and groom’s customary march).

Hamdy told media outlets that she got funny looks and some verbal harassment from people but she was also celebrated and encouraged by others. She got comments ranging from “Go beg your groom to go back to you,” to “Is this a prank?” and even “What, did he turn out to be impotent?”
